Its all about me!
It really isn’t all about me but thought you might want to know how I got here. My name is Gary Boyle, I’m retired from corporate life in the UK and now essentially pursuing my dream, after working hard and long on someone else’s corporate dream I now get to work on my own, retirement is a wonderful thing.
Where did it all start? On my eighteenth my Mum and Dad gave me my first 'proper' camera, it was a Fujica STX-1 (film camera) with all the knobs and buttons for shutter speed, f-stop selection, ISO etc, it also had a rudimentary light meter. I loved the camera, I didn't have a clue how to use it, but loved it all the same. I immediately bought some books to figure out the technicalities, there was no Google in those days, trial and error was not really an option either given the price of film and development. I must have wasted a fortune on the development of out-of-focus blurry pictures!
Forty or so years on, after a time in the British Army and a career in the telecom industry, I took early retirement and decided to indulge my lifetime’s passion in landscape photography. I love the long walks and the challenging hikes in the countryside even in the cold and wet, my wife has a different view, but it keeps us fit. To be honest I take way too long to compose and take an image, some turn out, others don’t but digital photography is fantastic, you get to make mistakes and not pay for them!
Sharing my work is immensely important to me, it is so satisfying to get my images out to a wider audience who, hopefully, will find joy and pleasure in hanging my images on their walls.
Hope you like my photographs!
